AV Technician

The Audio/Video Technician will play a key role in operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the AV Systems of MSIA venues. The AV Technician will be on point to operate, support and prepare for all respective MSIA Events. The AV Technician will work in partnership with the AV Engineer in the maintenance and repair of all AV equipment. The AV Technician will support, design and maintain the AV Road Kits for all MSIA on-road events. The AV tech works in partnership with the Live Streaming Director for the Productions of the Live Events.


Pre Production

  • Software skills in AVID, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop
  • Generate slides and ad hoc media for pre-production

Local (Los Angeles) Event Production

  • Setup, strike, and do event production that are simultaneously Live Streamed in two languages: Run live mix board, audio & video playback, video switching, and troubleshooting (as necessary)
  • Maintain organized work environments at venue locations for all tech staff use
  • Train local volunteers for various production roles and functions
  • Support events on a weekly basis
  • Manage event Recordings with handoff to post Production at event completion
  • Creates playback media file and folder structures, project files and project worksheets

On-Road Event Support

  • Manage Road kits for travel events, pack and unpack for events
  • Manage Carnets and pack equipment for foreign countries
  • Partner and assist Chief Engineer with AV prep for on-road events

Engineering for Production

  • Supports and trouble shoot AV systems at respective locations.
  • Support AV Engineer with equipment repair, repair tracking and follow-up
  • Participate in engineering discussions re: technologies and approaches in production
  • Support AV Road kits with designs, set-up and maintain AV road kits

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the organization including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50lbs
  • Has ability to drive between locations and support repairs/maintenance as needed
